Homelessness Week 2017

Homelessness Week is an annual week that raises awareness of people experiencing homelessness and the issues these people face. This year, Homelessness Week runs from 7-13 August. You may consider holding your own event for Homelessness Week (check out the #HW2017 Event kit), attending one of the many community-based events held nationally, or getting active on social media.

Who can become homeless? What leads to homelessness? Where do people experiencing homelessness sleep, eat, access services, find support? No-one can answer these questions better than someone who has been in a homeless situation. To mark Homelessness Week 2017, CHP invites you to join a 'Walk in my Shoes' tour.

CHP supports and trains people who have experienced homelessness to become advocates and educators through the Peer Education and Support Program (PESP). A PESP member will take groups on a walking tour of the Melbourne CBD / inner city, talking them through sites of personal significance, and discussing what contributed to their homelessness, as well as what ended it.
